Editorial Policy

This Editorial Policy sets out how ChipReign creates, sources, reviews and updates content. It exists so readers, regulators and operators know the standards we hold ourselves to. Every article on chipreign.com is written against this policy; breaches are corrected on the record.

Editorial Independence

ChipReign is editorially independent. Decisions about what to cover, how to rank, which operators to praise and which to criticise, are made by the editorial team. Commercial partners, even after affiliate partnerships go live, do not have pre-publication review rights, editorial veto, or any ability to change a score on a page.

The split between editorial and commercial functions is hard-coded:

• Scoring happens first. Every ranked casino is scored against our Review Methodology before any commercial conversation with that operator begins. The score is the ranking.
• Commission cannot change a ranking. An operator paying more does not move up. An operator paying less does not move down. Rankings update only when a new round of testing produces a new score.
• No sponsored positions. We do not sell top spots. We do not run “featured” placements that look like editorial but aren’t. If we ever add explicitly paid formats, they will carry an “Advertisement” label at the headline, not in the small print.
• No pre-publication review by operators. Operators see our reviews when you see them, on publication day.

What Qualifies as Editorial Content

Almost everything on chipreign.com. Reviews, rankings, comparison tables, guides, news articles, regulatory explainers, how-tos, the responsible gambling hub, and the policy pages you’re reading now. All editorial.

The exceptions are clearly marked:

• Site-level disclosure banners (Cookie Policy banner, affiliate disclosure banner above commissioned links).
• Any advertising format we ever introduce, labelled “Advertisement” above the headline.
• Operator-provided assets used under fair use or fair dealing (screenshots, logos), used for identification and clearly attributed.

How We Source Information

ChipReign favours primary sources over secondary analysis. In order of preference:

1. Operator-controlled sources: the operator’s own site, terms and conditions, live bonus pages, cashier pages, and licence footer.
2. Regulator publications: UK Gambling Commission public register and rulings; state US gaming commissions (NJDGE, PGCB, MGCB, etc.); Australian Communications and Media Authority; tribal gaming regulators.
3. Government statutes: the Gambling Act 2005 (UK), the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (Cth), state gambling laws.
4. First-party testing: our own deposits, withdrawals, support-channel interactions, game-play session logs.
5. Reputable news media: Reuters, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, BBC, Sydney Morning Herald, ABC News AU. Trade press only when the source is clearly credible.
6. Court filings and settlement documents for operator behaviour that’s reached litigation.
7. Academic and clinical research for responsible-gambling and harm-reduction content.

What we do not use as a source: competitor gambling review sites. We do not cite, name, link to, or reference the ratings of Casino.guru, AskGamblers, CasinoMeister, Gambling.com, Covers.com, OddsChecker or similar. If research came from one of those, the finding is rewritten as our own observation, cross-referenced against a primary source.

Attribution and Links

• Factual claims from external sources are linked in the paragraph they appear, using visible anchor text on the source’s name.
• Regulator citations use the regulator’s full name on first reference (“UK Gambling Commission (UKGC)”) with the acronym after. Act citations use the year (“Gambling Act 2005”, “Interactive Gambling Act 2001”).
• Quotes use quotation marks and name the speaker, the date and the source publication.
• Statistics cite the source body and the year of the data. No “industry sources say” or “studies show” without a named citation.

Original Testing

Every full casino review on chipreign.com is backed by first-party testing. Minimum test set:

• Account creation and full KYC completion on a live operator account.
• Real-money deposit via at least two different payment rails.
• Gameplay session recorded (hand count, session length, net result).
• Withdrawal request and end-to-end withdrawal completion time.
• Customer support contact via live chat and at least one other channel; response time and resolution quality noted.
• Mobile and desktop experience tested on current iOS, Android and at least two major browsers.
• Safer-gambling tools tested (deposit limit set, loss limit set, attempted increase to confirm cooling-off enforcement, self-exclusion trigger with a 3-day account closure to confirm lockout).

Test dates and outcomes are named in the review. If a specific test fails (e.g., withdrawal delay beyond advertised terms), the review says so. If we couldn’t complete a test (e.g., an operator refused service for a legitimate player in a legal jurisdiction), the review says that too.

Conflict of Interest

Members of the editorial team do not hold equity in any casino operator, sportsbook, gaming software provider or affiliate network. They do not accept gifts, trips, hospitality or merchandise from operators in exchange for coverage. Event invitations (trade conferences, regulator briefings) are accepted on a case-by-case basis when attendance is editorially necessary; costs are paid by ChipReign, not the operator.

If a personal relationship exists between an editorial contributor and someone at an operator we cover (former colleague, family member, close friend), the contributor recuses themselves from that operator’s review and another team member takes it.

Update Cadence

Reviews and ranked lists are re-tested and updated on this cadence, at minimum:

Urgent triggers (operator loses a licence, hotline number changes, regulator issues a public notice) mean same-day update regardless of cadence. The 2026 switch of the US National Problem Gambling Helpline from 1-800-GAMBLER to 1-800-MY-RESET is an example: every page with the old number was updated the day the change was confirmed.

Publication Process

1. Research:primary sources gathered, first-party testing completed, keyword and SERP work done.
2. Draft:written against the ChipReign style guide, voice reference and keyword recipe.
3. Fact-check:every specific claim (licence numbers, bonus terms, regulatory citations, statistics) verified against a primary source. See Fact-Checking Policy for detail.
4. Editorial review:second pair of eyes on structure, accuracy, voice, anti-AI structural sweep.
5. Compliance check:confirms responsible-gambling footer, age gating, affiliate disclosure (where applicable), jurisdictional notices.
6. Publish:with “Published” and “Last updated” dates visible.
7. Monitor:flagged for re-test per the cadence table above and for any signal (Trustpilot spike, news event, regulator action) that warrants earlier review.

Responsible Gambling in Every Piece

Every article on chipreign.com carries the responsible-gambling footer row with current helpline numbers for the US, UK and Australia. Every casino review audits the operator’s safer-gambling tools (deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, self-exclusion) and flags missing tools as a red mark on the review, not a footnote. Every roundup links to the Responsible Gambling Hub.

Reviews that cover operators with active responsible-gambling failures (regulator fines for RG breaches, credible pattern of bonus-trap behaviour targeting vulnerable players) flag those failures prominently, not at the bottom.

Corrections and Retractions

If we publish something inaccurate, we fix it. The Corrections Policy sets out the full process. In short: corrections are made openly, logged in the document history at the bottom of the page, and dated. We do not silently edit. If a piece needs to come down entirely (factually unrecoverable, legally problematic), we retract with a visible retraction notice in its place.

Reader Submissions

We read every email. Reader tips (a bonus has changed, an operator refused a legitimate withdrawal, a regulator action is about to be announced) regularly inform updates and new coverage. If you send us information we use, we don’t publish your name without asking. If you want credit, we’ll credit you; if you want anonymity, you keep it.
