Sites Like Global Poker: The Honest Answer About Sweeps Poker
Last updated: August 2026
Here is the honest answer nobody else gives you: there is no second sweepstakes poker room. Global Poker is the only one with real poker traffic, so if sweeps poker is what you want, there is no like-for-like alternative and every list claiming otherwise is padding. What there is depends on where you live. In a regulated state, BetMGM at 8.9 is a better poker product in every measurable way. If you were blocked, or you are tired of email-only support and slow payouts, the real choice is real-money poker where it is legal, or a proper casino instead of the thin one bolted onto Global Poker.
Global Poker is the longest-running sweepstakes poker room in the US, run by VGW, the same company behind Chumba. We score it 7.1. The poker itself is genuine: real Hold’em and Omaha, cash games and tournaments, in a stable no-download browser client. Everything around the poker is where the problems are. This page sorts the alternatives by which problem you have, using our own hands-on scores.
Why people leave Global Poker
From our own Global Poker review, four things, and they lead to genuinely different answers.
- The shrinking map. Full Sweeps Coin play ran in roughly 36 states as of June 2026 and the map has been contracting month by month. California closed the gap on the first day of 2026. This is the most common reason people find this page.
- The sneaky version of a state block. Some states cut you off entirely. Others leave you able to log in and play with Gold Coins only, meaning no Sweeps Coins and nothing to cash out. The site looks open until you try to redeem.
- Support is email only. There is no general live chat, which in a category where Pulsz runs 24/7 chat is a real gap.
- There is nothing else to do. The casino bolted onto the poker room is 14 slots. No live dealer, no blackjack, no roulette. If poker is one of several things you want, this is not a casino.
Payouts can also crawl, which matters more when you have ground out a bankroll over weeks.
First, the thing no other list will tell you
Of every sweepstakes casino we have tested hands-on, Global Poker is the only one with real poker. Not a poker-themed slot, not a video poker machine, but actual player-versus-player tables with cash games, multi-table tournaments and turbo Sit and Gos, and enough traffic that the games actually run.
Search for alternatives and you will be sent to sweeps casinos that have no poker at all, on the apparent basis that they are also sweepstakes sites. Stake.us, McLuck, Chumba and the rest are fine casinos and none of them has a poker room. Recommending them to a poker player is not an alternative, it is a change of subject.
So if what you want is sweepstakes poker specifically, and you can still access Global Poker, stay. The rest of this page is for people who cannot, or who want something different.
If you are in a regulated state: real-money poker is better
This is the genuine upgrade, and a lot of Global Poker players do not realize it applies to them. A handful of US states license real online poker outright. If you live in one, you are playing a workaround when you could be playing the real thing, with better software, deeper games and faster money.
- BetMGM (8.9) is our highest-scored US operator of any kind and the top real-money poker option. Different league of product.
- BetRivers (8.5) is the rising US real-money room, and scores 8.5 with the best 1x wagering terms in the US market.
- Caesars Palace Online (7.8) carries the WSOP room, which is the brand name in US poker.
- bet365 (8.7) and 888casino (8.4) are the options with poker inside a strong all-round product, 888 being the long-standing UK poker veteran.
The catch is the map, and it is a small one. Real-money online poker is licensed in only a few states. Our best poker sites guide sets out where it is legal and how sweepstakes poker and real-money poker differ, which is the comparison that matters here.
If you want a casino, not a poker room
Plenty of people signed up to Global Poker for the poker and stayed for a while before noticing the casino attached to it is 14 slots. If that is the gap, almost any sweepstakes casino is an improvement, and the choice is about what else you want.
- Stake.us (8.0) is our highest-scored sweepstakes casino, with the cleanest interface in the category and live dealer in eligible states.
- WOW Vegas (7.8) has the deepest library in sweeps plus real Evolution live dealer tables.
- Zula Casino (6.8) has the widest spread of game types, 1,700-plus titles across slots, crash, fish shooters, bingo and keno.
- McLuck (6.8) is the one to pick if you want a multiplayer social game to replace the table feel. Its real-time bingo room is the closest thing in sweeps to sitting down with other people.
Worth knowing if you liked the VGW connection: Chumba (7.2) is the same parent company, so sign-up and redemption will feel familiar. Its library is small at around 200 games and it has no live dealer, so it is a sideways move rather than an upgrade. Avoid LuckyLand Slots (5.7), the other VGW brand and the lowest-scored sweepstakes casino we have tested.
Global Poker alternatives compared
Two different categories in one table, because the right answer depends on your state. Every score is our own.

What you would be giving up
- Actual poker. Every sweepstakes alternative on this page has none. If you move sideways within sweeps, you are giving up the game entirely.
- Playing for free. Real-money poker is real money. Global Poker’s whole appeal is that Sweeps Coins are always obtainable free, so you can play without ever paying in. A licensed poker room has no equivalent.
- Access outside licensed states. Sweeps reaches far more of the US than licensed poker does. Moving to BetMGM is only an option if your state allows it.
- A long track record. Global Poker has been running sweeps poker longer than anyone, and it works.
The verdict
If you can still play Global Poker for Sweeps Coins, stay, because there is no second sweepstakes poker room and nothing else does what it does.
If your state has closed the door, check whether it licenses real-money poker before you look at another sweeps casino. If it does, BetMGM at 8.9 is a straight upgrade on every axis except cost. If it does not, accept that you are choosing a casino rather than a poker room, and Stake.us at 8.0 is the best of those.
Frequently asked questions
Is there another sweepstakes poker site like Global Poker?
No. Of every sweepstakes casino we have tested, Global Poker is the only one with real player-versus-player poker and enough traffic for the games to run. Lists that recommend Stake.us, McLuck or Chumba as alternatives are recommending casinos with no poker room at all.
Why can’t I play Global Poker in my state?
Full Sweeps Coin play ran in roughly 36 states as of June 2026 and the map has been shrinking, with California closing the gap on 1 January 2026. Note there are two kinds of block: some states cut you off entirely, and others let you play with Gold Coins only, so the site looks open until you try to redeem.
What is the best real-money alternative to Global Poker?
BetMGM, which we score 8.9, our highest-rated US operator of any kind. BetRivers at 8.5 and the Caesars WSOP room at 7.8 are the other strong US options. All of them require you to be in a state that licenses real-money online poker, which is only a handful.
Is Global Poker owned by the same company as Chumba?
Yes, both are VGW brands, along with LuckyLand Slots. If you want a familiar sign-up and redemption process, Chumba at 7.2 is the more defensible of the two siblings. We score LuckyLand Slots 5.7, the lowest of any sweepstakes casino we have tested.
Can you actually win real money on Global Poker?
Yes, through the standard sweepstakes model. Sweeps Coins are always obtainable free, and once played through once they redeem at one coin to one dollar in cash or gift cards. The caveats from our review are that payouts can crawl and support is email only, with no general live chat.
